MFNZL was established in April 2005 by Grant Finlayson and is based in Timaru, New Zealand.
Grant Finlayson manages all work assigned to the company.
This simple organisational structure is a strength that provides the pivot for the engagement of specialists if needed.
These are called in as required and assure clients receive the right “expert” advice where and when appropriate.
MFNZL is fully independent and does not have any declared or hidden association with any repairers or other marine companies!

Chris has brought his aquaculture expertise to Marine Focus in 2024

Experience:
- 40 years in the Aquaculture Industry
- Aquaculture specialist; equipment and stock risk and loss assessment.
- Fish farm management, freshwater and marine, in New Zealand and Scotland.
- Consultancy on the development and management of trout, salmon, bass and bream projects, in Europe and India.
- Senior insurance manager.
- Underwriting and claims support for aquaculture, waterborne (marine equipment) and hull classes.
- For the past 30 years, on behalf on one of the world’s leading marine insurance companies, Chris has focused primarily on risk audits of new and established aquaculture operations, across numerous species and projects, worldwide.
